Our story
Our Story
It started in 1991 with two refrigerators, one oven, three people, and an idea.
Founded by Sheila Whyte and Clayton Kennedy, Thyme & Again began in a 500-square-foot space in Ottawa’s west end. Rose Goyette was one of those first three people — and is still part of our team today. As the business grew, we moved and expanded three times, building Thyme & Again one event, one customer and one neighbourhood relationship at a time.
Today, Thyme & Again has grown into the business we are today — with two Ottawa food shops, our bakery and kitchens, Take-Home Catering, NEST and a full-service catering team. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to cater everything from family celebrations and weddings to major cultural and national events, including royal visits, landmark exhibitions at the National Gallery of Canada and the opening of the Ottawa International Airport.
But what we’re proudest of is what hasn’t changed. Our people are still our secret ingredient. We make our food from scratch, work closely with local producers and partners, stay involved in the community around us, and believe that how people are cared for matters just as much as what is on the plate.
More than 35 years later, we’re still doing what we set out to do: bringing people together over really good food — Thyme & Again.
Sheila Whyte
Owner
“Thyme & Again has been shaped by every person who has been part of it. I’m incredibly proud of the people who are here today, and deeply thankful to all those who have contributed their time, talent and heart over the years. Each of them has contributed in their own way to the successful business we are today.
Our team is our secret ingredient, and it shows.
OUR TEAM
From the very beginning, Thyme & Again has been built by people who care deeply about what they do and about the people around them.
Our chefs, bakers, event professionals, retail teams, drivers, coordinators and behind-the-scenes crew all bring something different to the table — creativity, experience, humour, care and a willingness to pitch in wherever it’s needed.
We are a wonderful community of people with a common goal. Trust, collaboration and the freedom to be creative are at the heart of how we work — and have helped shape Thyme & Again for more than 35 years.
